Research Activities

August 2010–present:
September 2010–March 2011:
  • Statistical consultant for Lisa Brown (Pennsylvania State University, NASA). Analyzed pre- and port-unit surveys to detect a change in student warmth toward science.
May 2007–June 2008:
  • Research Scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Project: Research scientist on the Group Violent Intent Modeling (GVIM) Project, in coordination with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate.
June 2006–May 2007:
  • Primary Coder of Venezuelan “Legislative Activity Reports” dataset. (Jana Morgan, University of Tennessee at Knoxville)
August 2005–May 2006:
June 2004–May 2005:
  • Coder for First Use of Violent Force (FUVF) project. Worked with Mary Caprioli (University of Minnesota at Duluth) and Peter Trumbore (Oakland University) on coding which state in a militarized interstate dispute first used violent force.
September 2003–March 2004:
  • Survey consultant. Worked with Jennie Cassie and David Feldman (University of California at Davis), in conjunction with the SSEB and SEWPI, to create and manage a survey designed to determine the effects of water on fuel selection and power plant placement.
